ABOUT
Trevor Morley is a co-founder and director of Morley Hanson Law Corporation. He specializes in Strata Governance, Risk Management, Dispute Resolution (Mediation and Litigation) and Major Contract Negotiation. Trevor was previously designated as a Chartered Insurance Professional and is a graduate of the Insurance Institute of Canada’s Risk Management Program. Trevor is the co-author of the chapter on Strata Management in the British Columbia Strata Property Practice Manual published by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia.
Trevor decided to study law after his experience with NATO in Bosnia. He observed the direct consequences of the breakdown of community and became very interested in community-scale self-governance. Prior to specializing in Strata Law, he was a lawyer advising and litigating on behalf of municipal governments. As a lawyer, he focuses on coaching and mentoring clients so that they can build robust and resilient communities. After graduating from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, Trevor worked for a year with the Supreme Court of British Columbia as a Judicial Law Clerk in the courthouse in Victoria.
In addition to practicing law, for several years Trevor was a Tribunal Member with the quasi-judicial Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal and chaired an uncounted number of hearings and wrote decisions. He was a member of the BC Council of Administrative Tribunals. He also volunteered as a mentor with the University of Victoria Faculty of Law Business Law Clinic.
Prior to studying law at the University of Victoria, Trevor was a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces as a tank and reconnaissance officer. He deployed twice to Bosnia-Herzegovina (2000 and 2003) and was involved in the deployment to Afghanistan (2001 and 2004). His military service taught him the value of teamwork and leadership and those are skills he uses when advising clients and working with the amazing team at Morley Hanson.
