ABOUT
Melissa Gunson is a Legal Assistant and Strata Advisor with Morley Hanson Law Corporation. Melissa is often the person that is the primary contact for new clients and she is directly involved in establishing priorities for work within the Morley Hanson team. She provides Steady, Practical, and Deeply Knowledgeable Legal Support regarding all the work that Morley Hanson does, but especially regarding Strata Debt Collection, Document Management for Dispute Resolution matters (Supreme Court and Civil Resolution Tribunal), Land Titles filings and Real Property.
Melissa grew up inquisitive, diligent, and determined. She always wanted to be a private detective, but eventually realized that career only paid the bills in black-and-white movies. Becoming a Legal Assistant allowed her to use the same instincts — Curiosity, Persistence, and Attention to Detail — while actually making a living.
Melissa started her legal career at Jones Emery in 2012, where she worked in foreclosures and insurance defence. She then moved to Scott-Moncrieff & Company before relocating to Stevenson Luchies & Legh at the end of 2015, where she reluctantly — very reluctantly — agreed to work with Justin doing Strata Law. At first, she tolerated it. Then, against all expectations, she grew to love it.
Melissa earned her sea legs growing up on a sailboat traveling. She is an avid Scuba Diver, proud mother of two ungrateful felines, and has an entirely healthy — or at least vigorously defended — obsession with Plants and Growing Things. Friends have questioned whether her patio garden has exceeded its load-bearing capacity. When Justin left SLL to co-found Morley Hanson Law Corporation, Property Managers' most important question was: “Melissa is coming, right?”
Now that she is firmly established as a member of Morley Hanson, clients often request to speak with her before getting an update from the Responsible Lawyer.
