Nick studied law at the University of Victoria, where he specialized in studies relating to property law, land rights, and governance. He articled at a Victoria firm that specializes in this area, where he advised Indigenous governments on housing policy and legislation, among other matters. Nick also worked as a home insurance claims advisor in another life.
Working as a lawyer at Morley Hanson gives Nick an opportunity to put this experience to work for strata communities. He is passionate about helping communities develop shared expectations, so that the community can accomplish its goals safely, peacefully, and in alignment with their neighbours.
Nick’s work in Strata Law has followed years of experience working for different levels of government. Before law school, Nick worked as a policy analyst for the Government of Canada, and since then has worked at a law firm serving Indigenous governments. Nick has learned that every governing body is as unique as the people who compose them, and that effective problem-solving requires active listening, clear communication, and open-mindedness to the dynamics and perspectives at play.
Wise governance inevitably comes as the product of challenging experiences, and Nick has kept his head through turbulent chapters by turning to visual arts. Drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and videography have all served as expressions of Nick's creative impulses, and he participates in the local art scene with organizations like Cinevic, Art Battle Victoria, and the Victoria Artists' Council.
