ABOUT
Justin Hanson is a co-founder and director of Morley Hanson Law Corporation. His practice focuses on Strata Governance, Dispute Resolution, Bylaw Drafting, Debt Collection, Employment Law, Real Estate Conveyancing and Refinancing, Contract Negotiaion, and Construction. Justin prefers to act as general counsel for Strata Corporations, helping councils solve problems before they become lawsuits.
Justin is the co-author of BCREA’s Strata Fundamentals 1 and 2 Course Manuals and a Sessional Instructor who lectures to Realtors throughout British Columbia on Strata Law and Strata Governance.
Justin ended up in law school due to a $100 bet made while unloading trucks at Zellers, proving that sometimes questionable life choices and rash decisions work out. After early work in Family, Corporate, and Litigation Matters, he found his true passion and professional home in Strata Law. Justin loves helping councils build resilient, well-ordered, and compassionate communities.
Justin was called to the Bar in 2004 after articling at Crease Harman. He spent eight years as associate counsel at Wilson Marshall, then built his Strata Practice over 13 years at Stevenson Luchies & Legh before co-founding Morley Hanson Law Corporation. He has advised more than 1,400 Strata Corporations and litigated at every level of court in BC. Although ready, willing, and able to litigate, Justin’s preference is to provide careful and timely advice that keeps Stratas out of court if possible.
Justin was born and raised in a jungle, on a citrus plantation, a mile away from the nearest village in Trinidad. He moved to Canada at the age of 13. He is the proud father of four teenage girls, which means his negotiation skills and patience are tested daily.
Outside work, he enjoys hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, working on and driving fast cars, and maintaining an entirely healthy — or at least vigorously defended — love of Star Wars and Star Trek.
